great deal on some mufflers, hopefully...

I got a call from a buddy who works at another shop across town. He tells me he has some slightly used mufflers laying around i might want for the truck. I act half interested until he mentions that their Borla Mufflers and he's just looking for a few tools in trade. Lucky for me i had at least 2 of everything he was needing so i feel like i got em' for free. Some nasty looking welds and reducers on them, but i can grind the welds down and use them. They appear to have been used only a few times with the insides still shiny for the most part. I pulled off the Glass packs and just slipped the mufflers on and fired it up to hear how it sounded. Quieter than the glass packs, but hard to tell if it's too mellow without driving it. Tomorrow i'm cleaning them up and mounting them. I'll put up videos of it with the glass packs and the mufflers. I just hope i like them. Someone mentioned flow masters being cheaper and sounding better, but it's all preference i suppose. I want it to sound as hardcore as i can get without cops getting me from half a mile away.

The glass packs seem loud enough, but i don't think it sounds "nice" or anything. just loud and nasty. haha. Anyone have any rec's or opinions on the subject?

Don't most used mufflers come off because they needed to be replaced?

I would say normaly yes...but...there are those who will replace a fairly new muffler cause they don't like the sound.

The guy bought em' had em welded on and apparently hated the sound, so he had em' taken off and bought something else. Must be nice to toss around money like that. They sound fantastic on my truck. I don't have them welded up until later this week. I'm just stoked on the deal.

The only thing I ever heard running Borelas was a 5.0 mustang. They were really loud and high pitched.

These are quiet and slightly rumbly at warm idle, they have a great sounding deep half mellow half wild sound to em under load if that makes any sense to anyone. At first, i wasn't sure what to think, but after driving around for the weekend listening to them and having at least half a dozen people comment on how nice my truck sounds, i'm sold on em'. They sound great on a stock small block. Just what i was looking for to get me by for a while. Still need to weld them up permanently, but i'm very pleased with the tone. I need to make a video clip for you guys this weekend.
