LWB Metal floor in SWB?????

Got a nice donor LWB fleetside metal floor that I would like to use for my SWB. Anybody got any tips or links?

I searched a bunch and checked LWB conversion FAQ:

but couldn't come up with anything about the floor.

Re: LWB Metal floor in SWB?????

I cut down a long floor to make my floor in my shortbed. Its pretty simple if you do all your planning correctly. You will need to cut out 12" from in front of the wheel tubs and 8" from the tubs back. I found the best way to cut the floor was to put a metal blade in a skill saw and use a straight edge guide. Cuts came out perfectly straight. In all you will totaly remove 2 of the 9 braces, ending with 7. If you measure properly and make youre cuts are in the right place, youre bed to frame mounts will line up perfectly. Even the perimeter bolts that fasten the bedside to the floor will almost all line up. (I think I had to drill a couple of new ones). I butt welded the floor back together.(Weld very small areas at a time or the floor will warp) I used the pieces that i removed to make 2'' wide baces that I welded in underneath my butt welds for added strength. I tried to find a writeup or something about this also before I started. Could find nothing so I did some measuring and came up with this. In my opinion, it looks very good and is very hard to tell where the seams are. With more finish work they would be invisible. Im sure there are other(better) ways to do this, but I thought I would pass this on to ya since I also struggled to find any info on this. This is the only pic I could find of the final product. If you want, I will take measurements and pics of exactly where to cut the next time I'm with the truck. Hope this helps

Re: LWB Metal floor in SWB?????

I'm going to do this to my Big Block 68. Here's a couple more links that show how to do it:
