Good Craiglist Find

Today was a good truck hunting day....

Well I have been browsing craigslist for awhile now looking for parts for my 81 Chevy long bed.

I'm sure most seen the thread about the Pawnshop Sign falling on my truck. So today I made the trip with my GF to Winchester Ca, about a 1.5 hours from the house.

The guy was the original owner of the 1988 dually and was parting it out. Get this, it had been stored Indoors the last 10 years !! It was in pretty nice shape.

I scored a steering box that had been replaced prior to storage of the truck, a new GM unit. He said he went through 3 rebuilts then bought a new one after all the headache ahaha. It appears to be in great shape, he drove the truck to where it sits, and the box was nice and dry...he said it still was nice and firm on the road.

He also had the complete grille with trim and parking lights, plus all the surrounding trim. I also picked up two headlight bezels he had that where brand new in the package. They are re-pops but are really nice.
On top of that he threw in all 4 headlights, 2 are Sylvania Xtra visions and two are Sylvania Silverstars( pretty sure)..they say Sylvania performance.

Next was a set of original GM mirrors, these will clean up Killer !! The glass is perfect ( mine are trashed....) They have some very minor scratches but for the most part they are perfect.

Onto the pics...

I think I did pretty good, I got him to come down on the price, for the drive.

So a $ 100 bill and a #1 from In & Out for the Lady. ( Gotta love Honda fuel mileage, used less then a 1/8 tank ahaha )

Nice score on some primo parts, especially for the price. Was In 'N Out your idea or hers?

Thanks yea I thought I did good.

The local scrap yard wanted a 100 dollars for that exact grille setup.

In and Out was her Idea, I told her if she drives I will buy her lunch. ( Pretty easy huh ?? My truck was fueled up and ready too..)

Im going to start the cleaning process of all the stainless. So keep an eye for a grille thread ahahaha...
