My 60 Turd goes Vintage camping

Turd is my nicname for my 60, jus because its not a turd. Its silly to me....

Anyway, I also have a 61 Scotty camper, and a few of my club buddies has vintage campers as well.
So being Memorial Day weekend, theres a rod run we go to every year. Its 90% cars and trucks we dont care for, but we go in our own little area, and the rest of our guys come and go throughout the weekend.

So heres pics.
Daves 59 FWagon dragging his 58 Metzendorf camper
My 60 Turd pulling my 61 Scotty
And Sams 51 F1 with his 63 Garaway EZ traveler

I seemed to miss pics when several of the guys were power parked on our spots...haha

Anyway, Happy Memorial Day to all. Thank a Vet.

Grumpy- that looks like lots of fun. Sweet vintage collection (I Like the whitewall tires ). That section of Ohio looks beautiful. Hope to get there someday and look around.

Grump,
Looks like life doesn't get any better. Those vintage campers are too cool.
I keep telling my wife we need a vintage trailer to go with our Burb.

Re: My 60 Turd goes Vintage camping

My scotty weighs about 1100-1200 lbs, before my wife packs it with everything we own. She has tiki torches, tiki guys, tiki everything, plus camp tables, a wooden break-down picknic table and benches etc....

My 60 has Jeep rear springs and it dropped more than 4". But I can stand on the bumper and not bottom out. And Im a slender 6'1 and 340lbs.
The tonque weight is only like 150-180lbs.

This 61 scotty is our 5th vintage camper.

We've had :
1964 Shasta
1966 Tag-a-long
1963 Penquin
1964 Avion

Heres our old 64 Shasta with my old 53 Burb. This is the one my wife wishes we kept.

Re: My 60 Turd goes Vintage camping

Here's a picture of my 1960 Burb and our old 1960 Shasta. Grew up camping with this rig. I have the Burb, wish we still had the trailer. Unfortunatley the person my dad gave it to some years back destroyed it for the frame to make a flat bed.

Re: My 60 Turd goes Vintage camping

Those "canned ham" campers were kinda cool and it looks like you've done a nice job of restoring the inside, but I've always been partial to the Airstreams myself.

Strodder, that little scene looks like either Oro Grande or out by Bell mtn. - kinda reminds me of "Raizing Arizona" except the camper was an Airstream.

It was at Trona, near Randsberg, Ca off the 395. It had great trails.
