What did you get done? Memorial Day weekend

I'll post up for Ken,... since he's probably enjoying his holiday weekend.

I picked up my newly re-upholstered '69 bench seat. I got the PUI seat upholstery from member Musclerodz. (thanks!)
I had a buddy's son install it for me. He's a recent Wyotech graduate. He did a great job on it.
Also worked a little more on the '69. Got all new window weatherstripping installed and installed a new dash bezel, along with some other misc. things.
What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? Memorial Day weekend

I spent the weekend with my girl.

We went to the USS Lexington Museum on the bay

Also did some bbq, and tried to figure out why the 6.5 Diesel in my wrecker went face down @$$ up.

And the girl says that she really likes this smiley. And this one too

Re: What did you get done? Memorial Day weekend

Finally dug into the front axle on my '67 K20 found a broken stub shaft and the other side is all beat to hell... Tightened the side mirrors on my '81 c10 and am hoping there is an auto house open tomorrow so I can finally replace the driver side mirror glass.

Not a whole lot, but this was accomplished between household chores, like installing the house A/C and cleaning gunk out of the pool.

Re: What did you get done? Memorial Day weekend

I put a Bazooka bass tube in the Volvo 240, but I still need to replace the krusty stock speakers. ( I wtb two good 5-1/4" and two 4" speakers if anyone local has some.)

I got the carb off my longbed and it's waiting on Ike to rebuild it.
It will run like it's fuel injected after he gets through with it.

I think I will have my buddy's 78 Silverado LB sold in the morning for a G.

The good: Scored a really nice unmolested dash gauge bezel, a mint steering wheel assembly, and some other misc. parts for my truck. Also, tried to spend as much time as possible with my wife, kids & grandkids doing the BBQ and family get together thing.

The bad: Had to work all weekend even though it was "short shifts". Dealt with tourists on their way here and/or way home with tire and/or mechanical problems as well as impatient yuppie work-a-holics with the same problems because "they never have the time" and are pissed everything else is closed.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Seat looks great.

Didn't get much done with helping get beans in the field, but between helping I did a lot of measuring and got my notch designed so I can start cutting metal next.

Thank you for getting this going. Your seat turned out look awesome. Love that color.

I had an unexpected visit from my buddy Keith (n2billet) and his wife this weekend. The 79 Blazer he is building for his son (LINK) puked it's tranny. My Bro-in-law builds transmissions so Keith used bringing the Blazer here as an excuse to come visit.

Saturday we ran a few errands, then went to our local car cruise. We walked a bit then went to dinner with the ladies.

Sunday we analyzed the upcoming suspension rebuild on my 77 Cheyenne. LINK and discussed the plans for my interior upgrades.

We looked at all the samples Capt Kaos sent me and discovered several were very close, but not as close as I would like. This ended up in me pulling a seat cover off of one of the buckets to send home with Keith. Our buddy Roger has some sample books that he is going to compare with.

We dropped the Blazer at my Bro-in-laws shop and they headed back home. Hopefully this brought enough motivation so I will stay focused and move forward on this upgrade.

Re: What did you get done? Memorial Day weekend

Spent most all day Saturday working on various members of my fleet. Removed the electric fuel pump (Holley Red) from my S-10 and went to a mechanical pump. The first 350 I had in the truck was a TBI motor and didn't have a provision for a mechanical pump.

We have some good friends that have fallen on hard times so we gave them our 98 Caravan. I fixed a few lingering issues with it Saturday afternoon and it's now in our friend's possession. I'm not sure who had the biggest grins, us or them. LOL.

Pulled the Heap in the garage and went over all the air lines and fittings. I'm having no issues what so ever, just wanted to make sure everything still looked good.

Drove my 65 Chevelle to a cruise in Saturday night, had a nice time bench racing with the other folks there.

Question Re: What did you get done? Memorial Day weekend

nothing truck related, worked all day. wife called and said she was down below the first mark on her oil dipstick. (2001 bmw 530i) picked up 2 quarts of mobil1 0w40 added those and asked her how her pwr steering fluid was doing...

added fluid, she left, called me 30 seconds later. my car won't steer, i'm at the bottom of the parking garage. bah. for whatever reason it was all stiff. only thing i can think is maybe the foil seal on the bottle made it's way in there. got a fluid pump, pumped out all the ATF and visually inspected the reservoir. clean. replaced with new fluid, road tested seems better, but not 100%.

i really should pay closer attention to her car now that it's coming up on 100k miles.

Re: What did you get done? Memorial Day weekend

Took the family to a cabin on the lake for a nice four day weekend. Grilled out stayed up till 2 every morning fishing. And it was my sons first camping and fishing trip. We also got to ride four wheelers, i thought the only fun to be had on four wheels was in a truck but those fourwheelers were a blast.

Re: What did you get done? Memorial Day weekend

Installed the new inside rear view mirror.
After some heavy notching on the left one, I finally installed my outer front bumper brackets.
Replaced all the bumper bolts with new ones.
Greased everything after it's 2 year hibernation.
Installed new lugnuts which is more of a task then it sounds like with the Cragar SSTs.
Pulled the cluster to remove all the spiderwebs and check the connections.
Installed the diamond plate tailgate cap to hide the paint chips and match the bed caps.
Removed the bench and set the '01 bucket in it only to realize I really don't like it in there which leaves me wondering what to do.
Found a lot of wiring that needs cleaned up.
And of course I found all sorts of new parts I gotta add to the list.

Overall, mostly a bunch of little stuff that I've been sitting on for 2 years, nothing major but still nice to get it all put on.

Pulled my 84 S10 out from under 10 years of barn accum. Body's still nice but interior - yuck.

Mowed lawn, it's gone crazy with al the water.
Bought the gaskets kit for my L6, gonna clean and paint while it's out.
Changed the fuel filter on the 6.2, did not solve my miss and surge issues. Bummer.

Re: What did you get done? Memorial Day weekend

I scored a blazer tailgate panel last week at a swap meet. This weekend I modified it to fit my truck. A cheap way to smooth out the tailgate. Then I undercoated the bed floor and painted the wheelhouses. Then finally got the bed back on and the chassis back in my garage. (it had been sitting on my patio since labor day last year.)
