Thoughts?
Got this thing for $300. Haven't done much yet, but we did get it turning over (didn't have any gas, didn't feel like going and getting any). It looks like it's gonna be my first vehicle and my summer project. The interior isn't bad, but the body is pretty messed up. Would it be easier to try and smooth it out or go find a new bed? It's an '87 Sierra with a 350 and a 700R4. I'd say not bad for $300?

Re: Thoughts?
Good find.
As far as fixing it up goes, I wouldn't do much more than cleaning it up and getting it running good and sell it, and use the profit to buy a couple more project trucks, and maybe find something that doesn't need as much bodywork. But I think it's a great start if you do end up keeping it. Last edited by heavychevy79; 05-25-2009 at 01:15 AM. |

Re: Thoughts?
Thanks
I'd like to try and fix it up, straighten it out the best I can, and use it to drive back and forth to a job. Not as much concerned about looks as I am reliability. |

Re: Thoughts?
pound them out prime them and run it...the primer hides alot and just cleans it up thats all I have done with my truck. hen if you find a better bed or fender or what ever you can change it out squirt it with more primer and it will still look clean..if you ever decide to paint it your half way there...........

Re: Thoughts?
Thanks hottrucks, I gotta get it runnin first though.
We haven't really messed with it yet but the guy that sold it to me said that he drove it out to get his mail one day. When he got back in, he put it in drive and when he hit the gas it didn't go anywhere so he pulled it out in the pasture and left it. Anyone have any ideas of what might be wrong before we take a look at it? |

Your rear end could of shelled I found this out the hard way and would explain it not goin anywere when you put it in drive and give it gas.
Looks like the rockers and the cab corners are in amazing shape though. |

Re: Thoughts?
for $300, you can't go wrong no matter what you do with or to it!
I'd get a bed for it and the rest is gravy man! Nice find! |

Re: Thoughts?
Thanks guys.
I'm hoping to crack into it Thursday or Friday and seeing if we can get 'er runnin. Or at least walkin. By just looking, everything's in really good shape except for the body and the drivers side floorboard has rusted out. It has oil and transmission fluid, and a new air filter, so I see no reason why it shouldn't be buzzing down the road in no time. But then again, I'm very optimistic |
