Not to change the subject (well yea, I guess it is changing the subject) but I see he has in there that it's for sale locally and he'll end the auction if it sells. Ebay recently changed a bunch of their rules as most of us know, and that's one of them. Once you have a bid on an item, you can't end the auction. Ask me how I know.

Question...does he have to sell to the ebay buyer. ie: He can't end his auction early but if he gets a better offer for his swb bed from some guy down the street. Is he obligated to sell to the ebay buyer even though the ebay offer is less? Just curious???

I don't know. But, I'm sure if you ask ebay they'll tell you you're obligated to sell to the highest bidder.
I did see one guy recently add to his description in huge red letters: "thanks for all the bids, but I sold it locally. Don't bid anymore." But, his reserve wasn't met, so I'd say he got away with that. This guy doesn't have a reserve though.
The only sure way around it that I know of is to get a buddy to bid your item up to a ridiculous amount so nobody else wins it. Only problem, you'll have to pay the final value fee.

You will only have to sell if the reserve price is met if not you dont have to sell it.

Anyhow I dont know if I would pay that much for that bed you can buy a complete truck for that much...

I remember a few years back I used the same wording and eBay pulled it saying it was against their policies. Again, that was a few years ago.

Re: FYI...Nice SWB Fleetide Bed FS on ebay...

I know a bid is legally binding. I would assume an offer to sell is as well. Never know though, especially when he says in the auction it is for sale locally.
