Need VIN help please.
Okay so here we go...
I replaced the cab on my 68 with one I bought from someone on this site a couple of years ago. The original cab VIN plate was a sticker because it was a replacement already. The sticker is screwed and will not make it to the other cab. Is there anybody who knows where I could get a blank VIN plate? Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Just a question..I'm not sure on the laws in Oklahoma but wouldn't a blank VIN plate be illegal? Wouldn't it just be easier to go to the DMV and have it inspected and get a new VIN? Like I said, I'm not sure of your situation or the laws of Oklahoma but I wouldn't want a fellow board member getting in trouble.

I'd take a section of the old cab with the vin on it along with me to the dmv inspection station along with some photo documentation and the receipt for the new cab.
You will end up with a rebuilt title but down the road that may keep you from having issues about the cab change. Last edited by mr48chev; 05-25-2009 at 12:11 PM. |

The Ok Tax Comm gets involved in this one. they want me to have a title for the replacement cab. then they will assign me a new VIN# but they won't do it otherwise. The state offices here will find and make up reasons not to help you in this state. It's amazing the hoops that you have to go through. I even told them the guy I bought the cab from was dead and they basically told me I was screwed.

I would be willing to buy another 3/4 ton truck for just the title and Vin plate for a cheap price. They could even keep the rest of the truck. I don't need it a bit.
