Garbage, pure garbage!

I bought a front 1 1/8" sway bar for my 1980 step. (did not come with one from the factory)I got it from Brothers and when I checked everything out I noticed that this is a universal type crap that you have to drill mounts into the control arms and frame - That's complete garbage considering my truck has all the mounting points for a factory bar. Now I have to se if they will take it back. There's no way I'm drilling my control arm to install links and the way it's mounted would mean I can not use the air dam under the truck.

What a POS.

There's $60 for shipping down the drain.

Man that stinks. Go with the Belltech. I put one on my truck and the fit was awesome. I got mine from Summit.

If you can still find them in your area junkyards, you can get a big fat 1 1/4 inch bar off of a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. It's a bolt on.

Around here, they are a dime a dozen, but I don't know how many of these trucks are still in junkyards up there in the great north where you live.

I don't see why you don't want to drill holes rather than eat the shipping costs, but that's your decision.

My expereience was Brothers has always been positive. I guess they can't please everyone.

Could it be a rear sway bar?

Oh, I forgot that part. Well since you are a subscriber, I say post it up and see if you can't make a deal.

It's really unfortunate that you couldn't find an OEM unit locally. That's the route I took and it bolted right up.

I did see on the Brothers site that it was listed under "performance Items" rather than "Replacement Items"...

Re: Garbage, pure garbage!

If the ride height of your truck is lowered, I would use the replacement sway bar with the endlinks instead of the factory clam shell bracket. I dint get how the airdam is getting in the way...? More than likely if it is hitting the aftermarket sway bar it is going to hit an OE bar. ?

The factory set up has mounts to the frame and you must use an air dam that has notches for these. this bar mounts flat onto the frame area and the air dam sits right there. I'm trying to locate a local buyer for this...Good thing it was on sale for $99.00 when I bought it.
