In dash electrical
while replacing my dash bezel i found a light w/ steel band and socket floating around, not mounted too squat,it is a black wire with purple dots that connects to this bulb socket and bulb and steel band, does it go on gauge cluster or could it be a courtesy light of some kind? it doesnt light up when i turn on my dome light, and being my dome light doesnot work either,i figured it might be interior floor courtesy light,if so where does it mount.............whew.....thanks for any help, you guys rock

Re: In dash electrical
I have never seen such a wire in these harnesses originaly. The wire for the shift light indecator is a white plastic socket with a black wire (it's actually a fiber optic) with a steel band on the back side of the socket.

Re: In dash electrical
the plastic socket plugs in one of the cluster lamp locations. If you are looking at the cluster from the front it would normally plug into just right of center. It just plugs in like one of the other lights just make sure you are not plugging in there your idiot lights are supposed to be.

Re: In dash electrical
Its a fiber optic cable the runs up the coulmn behind your shift indicator and illuminates it when the lights are on.
