auto crossmembers
Has anyone used the auto transmission crossmembers that ECE or GMC Pauls sales? Pros/Cons Trying to decide if i want to buy one of those, or try and find an original.My truck was a three speed and doing an auto conversion.Thanks

I did this already I converted my truck from 3spd to automatic....I used the one from CPP...Fits and looks perfect...

I bought one from GMC Pauls and it looks good. However, I tried to fit it in there and could get very few of the holes to line up. Perhaps this is what is expected and I need to redrill a few of the holes.

Can you weld at all ? It's dead easy to make a simple crossmember like that and you will end of with significant cash left in your pocket to spend on other parts of the truck.

tx firefighter, not a bad idea! it never hurts to do something yourself and save some cash. anybody got some pics of what they have done?

Two pieces of angle iron to bolt to the frame on each end and a piece of thick wall tubing between them with a little perch welded onto the center of it for the mount to bolt to. It should be an easy couple of hour job if you have done that kind of thing before.

i probally got the materials laying around the shop and welding is not a problem. thanks tx firefighter sometimes we forget to think "outside the box"
