Question Visor Delete, Anyone??

looking through my factory assembly manual this afternoon and came across a page in the 1970 section. it detailed visor installations and hardware part numbers. it appears that on some 05 models (panels I believe), there were visor bracket delete caps.

now for the big question. has anyone in their searches ever seen such a thing? anyone own a panel who could verify????

just curious........

Re: Visor Delete, Anyone??

in 67, and possibly 68 truck models, the passenger side visor was optional. Wouldn't surprise me on a later panel since they were stripped down work trucks 99% of the time.

Re: Visor Delete, Anyone??

I have never seen a Panel with a visor delete.I have also never seen one that did not have the auxilary seat or non stock seats.Of course I have really looked and have only seen about 8-9Panels in the flesh.I have seen a couple of big trucks(C50 ^) that did not have a passenger visor but IDK if they had caps.

The delux heater was actually standard, bus since it was the first year for it being base equipment, GM told the dealers to order it like it was optional and if the customor ordered one without, then it was a credit towards another option.

Re: Visor Delete, Anyone??

The only options on our truck are HD rear springs, 4 spd transmission, and deluxe heater. It's got a 250 6, and no pass. visor, armrest or radio.

Re: Visor Delete, Anyone??

Here's a couple of pics of a 67 short fleet that I have in the outdoors parts department.

From what I can see it is not even dimpled for the passenger side visor.

Re: Visor Delete, Anyone??

well I'll let the cat out of the bag. I am looking for a set. I didn't even know that they were "actually" installed. thought they would be an interesting oddity.

unless there was a special production run for something like a municipality, I imagine all cabs were drilled for the visors (as a cost reduction). but I know not all had a full set.

as an example, my cab was never drilled for an interior rear view mirror, but was drilled for visors. my issue with the visors is that were metallic aqua (from the factory) and my truck is olive! gag!!

guess I will dye a set of visors and nix the delete caps. darn it!!

That's what's great about this site. You always learn something. It does say it has the HD rear springs but with a three speed column shift manual. Still looks pretty stripped to me. Mine does have some dimples where the passenger visor would go (not drilled through).

My white 67 is dimpled but no holes drilled on the passenger side. Pat keeps complaining about it so I tell her all she has to do to get a visor is drive...
