Another New Guy, looking for Chrome Bumpers
Any help on finding chrome bumpers, my search seems to becoming frustrating...
Any help? I picked this up from an original owner in NV, it's in real good shape... It's a 3 year project for me to give to my son. Any help would be great, thanks in advance! |

Any of the board vendors sell the chrome bumpers. Wes of Classic Heartbeat is probably the closest to you (that I know of).

Re: Another New Guy, looking for Chrome Bumpers
LMC Truck has some nice chrome bumpers for these, can get them smooth or with driving lights or reverse lights molded in. I have one on my 90 Sierra GT and it was good quality.

Re: Another New Guy, looking for Chrome Bumpers
I re-chromed mine and they turned out great! I don't like the aftermarket ones, and they are lighter than the originals.I had the Bumper Boys out of Ca do them, about 320 each and the chrome was way better than NOS.And I'm an NOS kinda guy! I believe,(and have bought NOS years ago) the factory has what I call a (production chrome) and was not as nice as a custom re-chrome.My .02:chevy

The aftermarket bumpers are crap ask me how I know When I redo my truck in the future I will find some originals and have them replated like snook said.

Re: Another New Guy, looking for Chrome Bumpers
Go to the Good Guys this weekend.
I know that most people don't like the aftermarket stuff, but we picked up a rear sport bumper for my cousin's fleetside last year (to replace the rear step bumper) and the fit & finish as good. And I picked up a front bumper this year (collision repair) for my '69 this year; and the fit & finish was also good. I can't remember the name of the company, but they're from down Santa Clara way, IIRC; & I know it wasn't the "Bumper Boyz". Also, again IIRC the same company also does bumper repairs and rechroming. If I remember the name, or find their business card, I'll repost. I've never dealt with them personally, but I hear tell that Stockton Plating, well, in Stockton does good work. P.S. Welcome to the board & that's a nice looking K-5 ya got there

Re: Another New Guy, looking for Chrome Bumpers
Thanks for the quick response peoples... That really helps.. I am in Northern CA, about 45mins from SF.
I plan on attending the car show this weekend for sure! I was hoping to go topless, but I want to replace my body mounts first (I was told that is a good idea)... Anymore ideas are sure welcome!! |
