How do I know that I indeed have a 292 in my truck? The glove box label says that I do. Ill post the numbers on the block tomorrow. Thanks

They have have a book out on the inline 4 and 6 engines the book starts with 19 20somthing gos too 1980 the book $20 with shiping i got the info some where in my room

If you or someone else doesn't mind looking this up for me, I would appreciate it. This is what is stamped on the rear passenger side of the block: CON 20 CE 283. And this is what is stamped on the middle passenger side of the block: 3789404. Thanks

Here are pics of the 250-292 engines. eng mount location and side covers different among other things.

The side plate covers on the 250 are 4" tall and the ones on the 292 are 6" tall.

The motor mounts are straight across from each other on a 250 and on a 292 they are staggered.

Thanks john and Shyguy. I do indeed have a 292. It looks like the one pictured and the side plate covers are 6" tall and the mounts are staggered. I guess I Just have a different valve cover. Thanks for all the help.

That little extra heater hose coming from the thermostat housing is usually a giveaway too.

Thanks. I actually found out that my motor is thought to be out of a 60-66. Due to the green color and the valve cover. I guess in 67 they started painting the motors red and didn't use that style valve cover.
