Rust issues and PO half a** fixes
ok, so I thought the PO fixed a lot of the issues with the truck, but I noticed recently as I am removing parts that he didn't do so good.
This is the lower portion of my firewall after I removed the inner fender As you can see, some parts are "fixed" and some are not. And the welds are pretty rough. Rocker Boxes were removed because "they trap dirt and always rust, so I decided they weren't needed" this is a little closer look near the center: and here is the underside: As you can see, there are some new parts, and some were put right over the rusted one (floor) And now my question about fixing this. Can I just get a truck cab (I have one located) and use this corner and floor from it to replace mine?

Re: Rust issues and PO half a** fixes
Hey, I think most of the truck cab parts will fit except where the rocker box meets the firewall. you might need to make some adjustments. You can definitely fix that however. I spent the past 2 years fixing a blazer that "turns out" Had been rolled. I didn't see anything until I looked under the sheet metal (If I could find the PO who lied to me), and I too have fixed a lot of his "jerry rigging"

I think the "torsion" boxes(you'll get a tongue-lashing) are added overtop of same as truck sheet metal for the floors.

We'll just call them 'boxes' and I agree, the factory flange is the same for both trucks and blazers/jimmys

Re: Rust issues and PO half a** fixes
Being a long time owner of a truck (since high school 27 years now) let me say this about previous owners. We all do things that "made sense at the time" or "fit the budget" or "the parts were not available then as they are now" or even the excuse that "this was the daily driver and the parts store was not open on sunday but I have to drive to work on monday". The sad part is that I'm finding this as I work on my truck and all of these things were done by me.
What you have there is fixable.
