Good day everyone. I'm excited to get the feed back I know you have. I have a 73 GMC 3/4 ton truck with a 350. I'm wanting to warm up the motor just a little bit . I just lost the cam. Any recomendations on a cam for this?

Re: looking for help
welcome to the site! What is your end result you want? What carb setup, intake, etc. You have to pick a setup that works together.

Re: looking for help
I picked the truck up for 400 dollars with a blown tranny. Just had the 350 turbo and t205 transfercase rebuilt. The truck has a Holly carb on it. I dont know what size. Other than that, its all stock.
I just figured since i have to replace the cam, i could start with a little hotter one. The truck will not be a daily driver. Just a project truck for many years. |

Re: looking for help
You mention a T-case so we know it's a 4wd. What size tires are you running, and what gears do you have? Are you looking for low end torque, or overall performance?
Give us more of your preferences so we know what to suggest.

Re: looking for help
it has 33's on it. I believe the the rear end gears are 4:10. The truck is not going to be off roading major. Im just looking to make it a great running and looking truck with basic performance. Im being told that a 3 stage cam would be a good start. I plan on restoring this truck to original. I have loved this year truck for all my life. Forgive my ignorance. Im new to the rebuild and restore game. I have a mechanical background. So little scares me. I just dont know the little known secrets. Thank you all for your knowlege and help.

Re: looking for help
Welcome to the site There is a ton of info here. I had to rebuld my 350 recently. I used Edelbrock 7102 cam, Edelbrock carb 1806, Edelbrock Intake 7516 and a new seal kit. I got a GM Targetmaster 350 crate motor from a buddy with about 25k miles on it and centerbolt heads. I had the engine, cam and heads so I called Edelbrock to check this setup and get a carb/intake recommendation. Edelbrock estimates 350hp at the flywheel. It definitely moves now. Chirp the tires going into second gear!

Re: looking for help
Yo! Welcome!
FRANKENTRUCK is nearly identical and runs Summit's SUM-K1102. It is a towing cam that provides moderate lift and duration (0.420/0.442, 204/214 lift at 0.050) and is designed for a power curve in the 1500-4000 rpm range. I run the same in my daily driver '76 Camaro. Todd.
