oh crap, I forget whether it's 3 3/8 or 4 3/8". either way it is exactly 1" taller than a Q-jet.

Hmm... next question...

How tall is a Q-jet? :-(

Actually, I'm guessing that it's probably the 4 3.8" measurement, since 2 3/8 seems too short for the 4bbl.

Anyone else got one handy they can measure? The number is critical to the parts list I need to order for a project I'm working on.

Measured from both sides. Also be aware there are 2 different sizes of the 2gc.

by 2 sizes he is referring to it being either a 350CFM or a 500 CFM. I double checked my stash and found both are the same height.

what's the project? a triple deuce?

Actually, there are 2 different heights. There are 2 different cfm's like 68c15 states but I'm not sure why there are different heights. I have 27 2gc cores and 7 are the smaller height. Here's a couple on a 3x2 intake.

Re: How tall is a Rochester 2g?

OK, one more measurement request, please...

I'm trying to confirm the throat dimensions on the small base Rochester. I've currently got 3" x 1 5/8" with a full radius on the short side. If someone has a SMALL BASE gasket or carb or adapter plate laying around, can you confirm my dims?

Re: How tall is a Rochester 2g?

Thanks again for the pics and measurements. I'm a little worried that there is some significant variance between "small base" Rochesters. The ones you've posted have a pretty complex shape. The ones I'm trying to operate with (the carbs are being built and should be headed my way fairly soon... all of this is me trying to get a head start on some machining I need to do for them) _supposedly_ have a rectangular base like these examples. Does the carb you have in your post somehow mount to these basically rectangular parts correctly? Or is that a different carb than what I'm trying to measure?

Re: How tall is a Rochester 2g?

The both of them should fit. We run the 500 cfm carb's on race cars and they should be the same. Also on the 500's, there are three different sizes. Small, medium and large. The big one's come off of big trucks. You can measure the venturi's to check. I wouldn't mind finding a couple of the big ones. Good luck.

Carbs have arrived, and they have the same complex shape as in this pic--

Carbs have arrived (actually a week ago, but just got around to unboxing them). They're 4.125" from base to air cleaner rim.
