Well I got it, what next?

OK, gang, I got the truck for $400, what would you do next?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...875402140&rd=1

My plans are to...

1. Remove running boards - finished on 01/02/03

2. Remove rear bumper - finished on 01/02/03

3. Remove headliner (its sagging REAL bad) - finished on 01/02/03

4. Sell rear bumper brackets and headliner trim on E-bay

5. Change oil, check into carb tuning/rebuild (running rich)

6. Put on 8.5 Rally wheels I have collecting dust

7. Get two newer tires for the rear (used hopefully, cheap)

8. Clean interior real good, and get a seat in better shape or get a seat cover - cleaned int on 01/02/03

9. Clean exterior as best as i can (with faded paint) - finished on 01/01/03

10. Either sell it and hopefully make a profit or drive it thru winter.

Anyone have any other ideas???

TIA - Jeff

Other than cleaning it up, a lot, remove the running boards, camper cover, and maybe the bumper. Do the normal routine as far as tune up and oil/fluid changes.

Then drive the thing for awhile to see what kind of shape it is in. Maybe through the winter. Then if you decide to sell it, you can honestly say, what it is.

Well, went and picked up the truck a few hours ago and already worked on it a little. It was a 45 min trip each way and all I can say is the 350 runs very well but the carb is runnin rich and the engine burns a little bit of oil...but the truck itself runs, drives, and stops great. The first thing I did was go to the self serv car wash and wash and wax it. While I was doing that I discovered it had been repainted at one point in time and also saw LOTS of bondo on both front fenders...accident maybe? The paint is in bad shape and there is rust...but most trucks here this old are worse! I cleaned out the interior, removed the sagging headliner and trim, and got rid of the topper. The truck has some sort of aftermarket AC on it, but wait till you see how it and the vents are mounted...looks like a 73+ specific made for our truck kit...NEVER seen anything like it before! Tomorrow the runnung boards are coming off and the interior gets vacuumed and cleaned very good...it needs it baaaad. I scored a set of 4 tires with 60% tread left for free from a friend, and i have 4 plain steel wheels to put them on...so they will all match. I will have pics for you guys on friday...so stay tuned!

-Jeff

Forgot to mention, the truck has a factory wood floor...er...what is left of it.

Were these options back then and does anyone know how much it was...just for curiosity sake?
