Need bolt help.
Not sure if this belongs here but since it is for a bolt that holds a shock in place then suspension seems to fit. Yesterday when I was tightening up the lower shock bolt on my 01 sierra it sheered in half 2/3rds of the way up. I know the bolt is metric and it has 9.8 on the head of it and is 13 mm.
Heres the questions. I went to the hw store and picked up a t8 10.9 bolt but the bolt looks different in color from the original. Not sure if that is due to oxidation being under the truck for 8 years and the originals end was tapered and this one is not. Would it be safe to use it or do I head to the dealership and pay the 5$ for the bolt? Anyone have a part number for this bolt? Thanks in advance.

Re: Need bolt help.
That bolt should be fine a 10.9 bolt has a higher tensile strength than the original 9.8 and as long as it has some type of coating either zinc or yellow chromate it shouldn't rust on you.
