Hoping for some quick door help

I tried searching but I am coming up blank. I found a junkyard in San Angelo TX that has a bunch of 73+ trucks and suburbans, but I am only here for a few more days and I have to act fast. I am trying to find some original doors that will fit on my son's 76 C-10. All of the doors up to 79 are rotted and wont work, but they do have some great 80+ candidates. My question is what years will work? Thanks.

They'll work. I think the only difference is the inside panel is diff. They bolt right up though.

Re: Hoping for some quick door help

All 73-87 doors wil bolt up to the '76, but there are differences...the breakdown is 73-76, 77-87 (88-91).

The difference are more than just the panels....they are different sizes yes, but the entire window mechanicals including the channels on the inside of the door are different between the two versions.

The wing windows are also slightly different, and the inside door handles are different as well due to the panel differences.

If you want to run 77+ doors, you will need to get complete door assemblies. The good news is that you can now add PW/PL if you do this, 73-76 didn't have that option.

Re: Hoping for some quick door help

Thanks for such a quick response! At this point, I just want some real doors. I'll make them work as long as they fit. I replaced them once already with re-pops, but they are so cheap that they feel like they are going to fold in half when you close them. I should have asked this earlier, but are suburban front doors identical to truck doors? This yard (Cook's) has a bunch of them.

Re: Hoping for some quick door help

Good deal. I should be able to find something no problem. I tried 5 yards in the DFW area and struck out but I was only looking for 73-77. I figured they would be a dime a dozen out here, but they all seem to rot in the same places....

Re: Hoping for some quick door help

Well, the trip to the junkyard was a bust. I found a decent set from an 85 burb but they wanted $200. Is that reasonable? They are power equipped but need some body work and one is missing a PW switch.

79widestep - I am here on business but i will be passing thru DFW in a couple days. I will PM you concerning the doors.

Re: Hoping for some quick door help

I went ahead and bought them. They were from an 85 and have PW/PL. Seals are good and they are complete with all of the switches and interior panels. No dings or anything. They also threw in an air duct. They were from a 'Dallas Cowboys' special suburban and have all of the blue pinstripes and stuff. Definately not going to fit in in Alabama! It's going to take a little work to get them off but I think they are better than the re-pops. Thanks again for all of the help.
