what do you think would be the biggest tub and tire size you could fit on a c 10 with out shortening the axle or chopping frame?what would limit it first? the frame or a rims backspacing?

On a coil/trailing-arm truck you can fit a 15x14" wheel w/10" of back spacing & not hit the frame rail. The wheel tubs in the bed only need to be enlarged as big as the tire. I had Mickey Thompson 31x18.5x15's on widened/custom offset corvette ralleys w/the above spacing on my 67 short fleet w/a stock length truck 12bolt rear end. This all depends on the relationship between rear-end & trailing arms not being altered (no lowering blocks).

the wheel tubs can go about 6'' wider, that roughly the distance to the frame rail. W/ the 18.5 MTs did you have to remove the bottom stops? i fit 29x15.5x15 MT's on 15x12 Cragar ss w/ 8'' backspacing.

Yes the factory bumpstops were removed.

where am i gonna find a rim with 10 inch or even 8 inch backspacing???

You can get alot of different wheels w/custom offsets . . . . you just have to pay extra for it. I've had several sets of steelies made by WheelVintiques & had a set of cast grey american torq-thrusts custom widened for proper fit/backspace on a 93 mustang cop-car by a guy in califonia. Also try: pete paulson wheels, stockton wheels.
