IS it flooded? If you're getting gas and spark you should be running.

Re: truck wont start still...

What kind of distributor do you have?

You said you are getting fire, is it to the plugs?

Has the truck ran and now won't start? If so what has changed since it ran.

Sorry for all the questions, but a little more info is necessary to better help you.

I have heard on here before in order for an engine to run it needs fire, air and gasoline. Also it has to be firing at the right time.

Re: truck wont start still...

Timing, timing chain, fuel to the carb, screen in the carb inlet, choke stuck, etc.

Have you checked the fuel level in the carb bowl(s)?

Have you checked spark at all plugs?

does it do anything? kick? sputter? show SOME signs of life or nothing at all?

id check all the plugs to looks for spark. even just check that all the plug wires are on. there has been stupider things happen that will keep a truck from starting. ask me how i know.

you say you jumped a 4-wheeler off......you might want to check your dizzy. i have seen a dizzy fry before just by jumping off another vehicle. i would take the module out and test it.

Re: truck wont start still...

I think both idle air screws should be turned 2 turns out to start with, then fine tune from there to smoothest idle or highest vacuum if you have a gauge.

It will not run with them both turned in all the way.

Re: truck wont start still...

I have had spark fuel timing everything working and not have the engine run, you need compression too, if the rings are shot she wont run, I learned that on a S-10 a while back hooked up the comp gauge and had 0-5 psi in each cylinder, the PO had run her out of oill and the rings are gone, not typical, mind you but it happened to me!

Yep, you are right no compression-no run.

Good point.

That is what I like about this site, everything is brought up at one point or other.

Uh oh. Too much oil and you didn't add any? Is the oil milky looking? How's the radiator coolant level? Does the engine rattle or knock?

If they were scewed all the way in you probably fouled your plugs.

How much fuel did you pour in the carb trying to get it running? And how many miles does the engine have on it? Just a guess, but you may have poured so much fuel in that it seeped by the rings into the crankcase. Seen it happen before.

As far as reading 0 psi at idle, there was probably enough fuel in the oil to thin the oil out. Get fresh oil and a new filter on there ASAP.

Gas can also get in the oil pan from a ruptured diaphram in the fuel pump.

oldblue, when you said jumping off, I think dznucks thought you ment jump started with cables. where I think you ment jumped off as in drove off the back of the truck. which you are right, would not effect anything
