74 frame 86 body
I new I was gonna run into some differences, and thought i had them licked.. ONe difference I concured was i had a new set of poly cab bushins for an 86.. The cab mount holes on the 74 frame were a good bit smaller. Not an issue i plasma cut the holes to the size I needed... next difference I ran across was the rear cab mounts sat lower then the 86. An they were singles, one on each side... The 86 was a crossmember.. I liked the way it looked so I cut it out of the 86 frame and bolted it into the 74... Then when i was hooking the parking brakes up I ran into the bracket for the lines being different again I cut the one of the 86 and bolted it to the 74... The rear bumper holes were a lil different, front frame horns etc....
Anyways let me get to the question.... After looking at the 74 cab mounts and looking and measuring the 86 mounts.. The 74 seemed to sit lower, Am I right on this..? So after i had the cab mounted and put the bed back on the rear of the cab sat 3/4" lower than the bed... I was going by the bodylines.... Has anyone else ran into this??? Also to note I have a 3 inch body lift installed... 3 3/4 inch in a certain spot... Im just wondering if anyone else has ran into this... Thanks Mike |

Re: 74 frame 86 body
The 74 body bushings are taller than the 86. When doing this kind of swap, you need the bushings to match the frame not the cab...

Are all the bushings taller or just the rear cab bushings? |
