Re: need help on custom gas tank 63 chevy c10

Lately I have seen some 80-90's suburban tanks. They are square and pretty flat. Not sure on the exact specs, but mite be something to look out for in a thread. Im sure others will chime in and I think there was a thread on this not too long ago.

Re: need help on custom gas tank 63 chevy c10

I did a search of the FAQ"s and past threads and found lots of hints, pics and great ideas. I am moving my tank also and have not found what I am looking for yet. Speedway makes a 16 gallon fuel cell which guys say fits nicely. but is top fill only. I'm not sure I want a top fill through the bed floor. I think I would like to find a rear fill style and hide the inlet behind the license plate. 69-72 guys hide the inlet behind the tail light or the marker light. Somebody had success with a mustang or pinto tank, but I do not remember what they used for a sending unit. 30 ohm or 90 ohm. Good luck and keep us posted on what you use.

Re: need help on custom gas tank 63 chevy c10

there are several companies that make custom aluminum tanks for our trucks.....most are in the 4-500 price range
here is one
http://www.performanceonline.com/sto...cat=453&page=1

also fuel cell guy on here makes them, you can pm him

DaddyMack has his install in his thread here
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=320376

his is a 62, but the company he got his tank from will make one to fit the 63-66 frames

also 502tripower used a van tank that turned out really well..
you can see his starting at post #6

Re: need help on custom gas tank 63 chevy c10

I think if you had a gas filler behind the license plate you would have problems filling the tank.

Re: need help on custom gas tank 63 chevy c10

it would be too low unless your tank was hanging below your bumper....

Re: need help on custom gas tank 63 chevy c10

Thanks guys for all the input. i was thinking on a gas tank with the filler behind the license plate like on 60's buick rivierra. i guess i have to take a tape measure to the local recking yard and find something that will work.
