Another unlooked for truck

So I am out cleaning up the battery terminals on my 68 short 4x4 and a guy drives by and then stops. He comes up and says, " I noticed you like to work on these old trucks" and after a little bit of small talk he tells me that he has inherited a '68 with "that short bed on it". He says he doesn't know what to do with it and would I be interested in maybe purchasing it. I ask him how much and he tells me $1,000.00. Well now he has my attention! I go and take a look at it and as fate would have it the truck came up here to the NW in 2001 from southern CA. There is zero rust and the body is straight. However, it needs paint. To make a long story short, I offer him $800.00 for it and I now own it. It is going to be a good year!!

when I first looked at my blazer the gut wanted 2000.00 for it. I passed and it sat for about a year, the next time I talked to him he wanted 1400.00. I talked him down to 500.00. the deals are out there. you just have to look, I think I'd rather have a swb for 800.00. does she run? What a killer deal man, congrads.

I say since you live near me you should be a super nice guy (since you already own a cool camaro + a bunch of other stuff like 427s) and just hand those keys to me as a sign of good will...

Sorry. Had to ask.

Have fun!

RED72blazer you can't tell everyone that we have good deals in the Northwest. If everyone know this then they will come and take our good deals away from us. The only deals we get are the same ones you get through our venders Wes and Frank.

The same thing happened to my nephew. A guy drove by his house and saw his 70 c 10 and stopped to see if he wanted to buy another one for $300. The only problem was it was only worth $30. All rusted to helllll.

I was looking for a clean 80's gm truck for a daily driver while working on the 65 and then one day my stepmom came home with a polaroid of a 69 gmc paneltruck for 1600.00. She was friends with the guy selling it and he said if i wanted it he would take 580.00 for it since thats all he had in it. And that is how I came to own the finiancial blackhole I call a truck.

It is dark and pouring rain so I will get some pics this weekend. After a little more investigation it turns out it is a '69 with a 68 front clip. It makes a guy wonder what happened to the original front clip! It drives OK though so if it was wrecked at one point it must have been sheetmetal damage only.

Another plus, it has a TH400. That will work nicely behind that spare 402 in my garage. It is a running truck but it just has a little 350 in it.

I'm getting a distinctly evil feeling toward you...

$800 for a halfway decent truck???

I'd have given $800 for a reduced rust cab about 3 years ago...

Congrats and all that man
