My gear shift indicator pointer on the column is off by a gear
Is there anyway to adjust this in the column? I'm ok with this but I don't want anyone else to make a mistake while driving it.
This park is way to the left reverse is park neutral is reverse Thanks in advance, Chris |

Yes, there is an adjustment, but it's not in the column. The adjustment is a "sliding" fitting one end of the linkage. Simply loosen the bolt, move the linkage so that the pointer is aimed where you want it, tighten the bolt. Done.

Re: My gear shift indicator pointer on the column is off by a gear
jondancer, open up your hood, and look at the engine side of your steering column, you will see a rod coming up from a pivot bracket on the frame. Follow that rod up to where it connects to your steering column. Where it connects, loosen the nut just to where you can start to slide it (too much, and it will fall right out), (I am assuming that you are keeping the tranny in park) and then go back inside and move your shifter until your pointer is lined up to where you need it, and go back to the linkage and tighten that nut. Should be all done.

open the hood and look at your column and youll see a flat bar sticking out towards the engine with a bolt in it hooke to a rod going down.....loosen the bolt..the rod will now slide up and down to adjust it.....put it in park loosen the nut and then go inside the truck and put the level/indicator in the park postion....tighten up the bolt and your done
