fixed one thing, broke another

Wow, what a x-mas break for my truck! I bought a middle seat from a suburban to install. It feels so much nicer than the old bench. Thanks to the folks who posted their seat ideas before. Even the color matches well. It does sit pretty high, but other than being first in line at stoplights, it isn't a problem.

It did create one minor difficulty--the stock steering wheel was too close to the seat. My dad had an Astro steering wheel on a tilt column that he didn't want (the wheel that is). That has to be the easiest swap on the planet! I just made a little jumper wire with a bullet connector on one end and a spade terminal on the other and now I have a new wheel with working horn.

Then things took a turn for the worse. My windows don't roll up and down well, so I thought I would pull the regulator out of the drivers side and clean and grease. Long story short, the gears are stripped. I worked and worked to get it out before realizing that the whole vent window could be removed.

So, it looks like it is a mixed bag of results for the old 67. It feels like a sportscar with the new seat and wheel, but no side window until I get a chance to order a new regulator. Once again, thanks to the board for the ideas and the confidence to try out the updates.

Hope your Christmas holidays went well also. I made a 6 hour drive in the old truck and it ran like a champ.

Those seats are nice. Good luck with the regulator. I'm sure one of the board vendors can help you.
