Factor Sound Deadning

So I discovered today looking at my floor that it appears the floor has like little metal bumps or something underneath the stock sound deadening material and unfortunately one of these has worn a hole clean through the floor.

So my question is have many of you removed this material? And if so what was the fastest and easiest way of doing it?

I heard that dry ice can work but I don't think it'll work with this material and I found today that using heat and a flammable liquid will melt it into a pile of goo to scrape off.
