hey there guys, im on a seriously tight budget, but id like to get the front of my truck down 2 inchs or so.

I'd like to go the spring route, but i just cant get my head around 120 bucks for lowering springs.

so im looking around to buy a set of stock heaight ones and modify them.

what I'd like to know is weather you'd recomend heating or cutting them?

if cut, will the spring still seat properly in the hat?
if cut, how much do i cut? i know its something like 1/3 coil per inch dropped or something like that..

or maybe a different solution for get that front end down 2 inch... on the CHEAP

Look at Summit Racing brand springs. Seems like I paid $89. They are actually Ground Force brand.
If you decide to cut,... cut the bottom of the spring.
1/2 coil=1" of drop.
Do not heat. Period.
I still recommend the drop springs.

different year truck?
or even like an S-10 spring or something?
..just widens the available springs that i can purchase up here locally..

i found a set of 3 inch lowing springs for an 86 2wd...

Am i out of luck or would those fit?

I cut one full coil off the front springs on my 72" 3/4 ton. It lowered it somewhere around 3 inches. It doesn't ride any different than it did before. a little stiffer around corners and looks great with the rake.
My truck is very unsafe though, so don't take my word for anything.
But, since i'm still alive and so is the truck, i must've done something right.

i got a set of stock front and rear springs for a 1/2 ton P/U from LMC and only been on the truck for a year. im not using and not going to use in the future.(going air ride) if u need them, we can make out a deal if you like!! let me know!!
