Can anyone tell me how to release and raise the plastic cover on the floor mounted retracting part of the seat belts to get at the mounting bolt? I need to remove and reinstall mine for floor work. My covers are in pretty good shape and don't want to damage them in the process.

They pull off. wiggle back and forth while pulling.

John, thanks for the quick reply. I took them out last night and it was just as you said. I thought that they might have a tab or two that needed to be released but they were just pushed on over the mechanism.

I know what you mean Don, those little things can be kind of tricky to get loose. I always worried about tearing them up.

I always use a heat gun on mine to warm them up first. A hair dryer would probably work too. It makes removing and installing much easier...

Does anyone know how to make them fit tight when you put them back on? The ones in my blazer are pretty loose?

Mine were pretty tight and didn't seem to want to just pull off. That's why I started wondering if there were hidden clips or tabs. But they did just slide off when enough force was used. The heat trick is a good idea, especially in cold weather.

They seem to just squeeze on over the retractor hardware, so using something to stick inside the plastic cover where it makes contact should make them fit tighter. Something like adhesive backed felt or rubber?
