Newbie in Hampton Roads VA
I recently aquired a beautiful blue 1972 Blazer. Upon researching a few fixes I needed to make I ran across this forum and OMG!!! There is a wealth of knowledge here and tons of people willing to help. This site has already been invaluable since I have never worked on a chevy before and am kinda of lost on so many things. I do know what I am doing with a wrench however, I have been working on planes for over 10 years now in the Air Force.
So on to the Truck 1972 K5 Blazer original 350/th350 NP205 around 130k original miles. She runs great, real loud with flowmasters, edelbrock intake and 1407 performer (maybe a little too much carb). The wife and I love this truck and love cruising with the top down with the dogs in the back. I have already gotten dirty with her a few times. First I had some pulling/pulsing during braking, wandering steering, and developed a squeal from the front rt wheel. It turned out the lt front U bolts fixing the axel to the leafsprings were loose and allowing the axel to move forward and back!!!! That explained the wandering and a wierd clunking noises while steering. It also turned out the rt front wheel bearings were well beyond shot. All is fixed now tightened the U bolts and r2'd front wheel bearings and she drove like a new truck. Second I had a pretty bad tranny fluid leak coming from the T case. So bad that It coated the underside of the truck and worried me so much I got her towed home. Pulled the T case to R2 the seals on the adapter between the tranny and T case (this was recommended by my neighbor as the problem). While I had the case out I decided to convert her to "exploded view" to clean her up and paint her and I am currently awaiting seals from northwestern fab so I can put her back together and get driving again. I know I am going to need a lot of help from here so I want to thank you all for your help in advance. Heck a week ago I didnt know what a NP205 was or how to identify a THM350. Now I know thanks to you guys. Thank you Brad |
