Re: I've seen the light....show me your blacked out trucks....

My opinion is that black trucks need some bling. Whether it is a touch 'o chrome or some flames, they need something shiny. Wheels are one thing. You don't want the wheels to be the thing that draws your eye at the git-go. That "murdered" truck you mentioned has been posted on here before and it is "too" black, in my opinion.

My black truck will have chrome grille, bumpers, handles and Goodmark-style flames. All side trim removed. Wheels are powder-coated red.

Re: I've seen the light....show me your blacked out trucks....

Black is beautiful but the bodywork must be flawless or else you will see every imperfection. Also, the paint will need to be color sanded and buffed or else any orange peel will be very obvious. Lighter colors are much more forgiving of wavey body panels and orange peel. Also, you will need to wash and wax a black truck much more often.

Re: I've seen the light....show me your blacked out trucks....

Yeah, I know the drill....this is a work truck ....that said it doesn't have any Bondo on it and it's fairly straight except for the tailgate. I am not goign for show looks but I will be filling all the holes. Gonna have a buddy do it for me the old fashioned way....a lead sled '70!

Puppy, I'd never seen your truck until the other day when you posted those wheels for sale. After seeing yours I knew I had to go black. That's one mean looking 68!

Re: I've seen the light....show me your blacked out trucks....

I hope the end result is something similiar a couple of my favorites:

I am strongly considering putting the front and rear chrome bumpers, chrome headlight bezels, chrome tail light trim, and chrome grill surrounds on it.

Re: I've seen the light....show me your blacked out trucks....

I'm working on mine right now. Black/chrome/shaved 69 long step. Black phantom grille, chrome front and back bumper, chrome wheels, everything else is black. I've got the bed pulled apart right now for paint. Next up the wheels are getting sent off. After that, door shave kit, relocate the gas tank under the bad, put her back together and start making the shows/cruises. I'll post some pics as I get her back together. I managed to get it apart before I had back surgery, now I'm in recovery mode. Not being allowed to do anything has seriously given me the itch though.
