What thickness of metal are you guys using to box the frame? I was thinking of using 1/8", but read somewhere that I should use 3/16'. FYI - this is on a 66 if it matters.

At our shop we usually use between 1/8th and 3/16 depending on the stock frame thickness. usually 1/8 is fine on most of the builds we do. alot will depend on what your are going to be using the truck for also. are you building it for show? resto? drag racing? these things will affect what you should be using to box your frame. i know that alot of people use 1/4 on everything but in most instances this is WAY over kill. if you take a look at your stock frame thickness its normally bout 1/8 or 3/16 so if you are going with a show or resto look then this should be fine. if your gonna drag the truck i would recommend beefing the whole frame with extra gussets and possible using 1/4" plate. but hey this is my two cents.

My logic falls within this guidline: If boxing only, 1/8". If cutting the frame apart & splicing it back together, 3/16".
