35" Spare Tire Carrier
Ok, so I've debated for quite awhile how I'm going to store my 35" spare. I didn't want to drill holes or pay $800 for a rear bumper with tire carrier. I wanted it in the stock location in back of ther rear seat. I ended up buying a rear tire carrier from a mid 90s S10 Blazer, so that I would have something pre formed, the factory look so to speak. Then I got some angle iron, cut two pieces 14" long, drilled them for the factory mounting holes. I cut the Blazer carrier down so the tire sits on the bed floor, so the weight of the tire is off the carrier, and welded it to the angle iron. Badda Boom Badda Bing.
Cost: Tire rack from picknpull $25 Angel iron from Home Depot $23.95 4 bolts and washers, 7/16x1.5x20 grade 8 from Hardware store $8.00 Here are some pics. What do you think? Still have to paint it and figure a way to properly attach the wheel to the carrier, just have one screw holding it for now.

I mounted my 35" spare to the stock swing away carrier. Been there for years without any issues. Keeps the inside space freed up for people or gear.
