Dash Hacking
Well I am about to install a nice new Sony CD controller in my dash and am wondering if anyone has had a problem with the Height of the stock AM radio cutout being larger than the new style pullout casing??
It looks like there may be a gap on the top or the bottom?? The width looks like it will be okay.. Just looking for some info before I get to hacking!!!

It is slightly larger but the outside trim ring covers it nicely!

Hack it!!!! Did mine a couple days ago and have not looked back... just cut the opening exactly in the middle and the cage will cover up the gap. However, no matter how well you cut, you will have partial round indentations on each side of the stereo. Not a big deal, some people make a plate to cover, I just left mine for now. Good luck!

Did you drill and then use a hacksaw blade, or a metal cutting blade in a jigsaw!!!

I used a hack saw blade that I was holding onto with a pair of vice grips. Worked great.
Take your time and it'll come out awsome. |

Yup, I used the method like longhorn- worked awesome! Just cut inside the lines and file a lot, and you will have no problem.

I have a black trim peice that slides onto the din before you put it in the dash. I got it at Magnolia hi-fi, It covers the indentations from the stock radio. It was pretty cheap.

no pics. I could get them tommarrow. it's just a flat piece of metal that sticks out more than the trim plate on my deck

I like XXL's Idea, except I'd have to pull out the back window to make it work, and it was a drag to install that window last time!!!
