I bought a 72 GMC!

Frame is pooched so I am going to have to transplant it...

To this one!

Any welding that I have to do...

Will be done with this!

It was an expensive weekend... gotta wait till next weekend to get the materials to start up the work...

Here's the story of the GMC frame. Its cracked right before it bows over the rear suspension on the passenger side. The 69 frame that I have in the picture is solid except for the rear cross member that holds the shocks. So, I am going to switch the GMC cross member over to the chevy frame. One of the body mount brackets is rusted out on the 69 also, so I am going to pull the best one off the GMC frame and bolt that on.

The GMC has the factory 350 V-8 and 3 Speed tranny (3 on the tree).

Yup, it all starts next weekend... I am pumped.

Re: I bought a 72 GMC!

Can you guys give me some ideas on how to remove that blue paint from the grill? I know that sanding will wreck the finish underneath... Is there anything out there that will strip that paint, but not mess with the aluminum?

He went kinda crazy with the paint... got the backs of the side mirrors too.

If its already painted, you will probably find that its been sanded underneath.
Nice looking Truck! Good luck to you!
