Opinions Needed!

i've been doing a lot of thinking about my C10 lately...

my intentions were to buy the '79 K20, do a little bit of work to it, and start beating the snot out of it off road. its got a Western plow setup on it now, and it works good.
i'm buying the truck for $800 and as you in the midwest know, we've got this wonderful white stuff on teh ground here called snow, which automatically triples the value of anything with a plow on it.

i've also go ads out for some of my C10 parts, including my SWB frame, which would be used under my C10 cab. but not so much as a nibble on them, with the exception of the drop kit.

if it were your situation, which would you do? the lowered SWB, or a lifted K20 for a toy that will get occasional street use. thank you for your opinions...

Tough call, I guess it depends on if your gonna play with the 4x4 a lot, or if the gas mileage of the 2wd swb means more. Both are good ideas. IMO, I'd clean & sell the 4x4 for good coin while theres snow, and put it towards the swb C10 for spring. But as I said, its a tough call....
good luck!

Even though I'm a mudder at heart, I'd say that you should take his advice and sell the plow truck while demand is high and fix up the swb. (course, I'm biased. I own a '80 swb stepside.) There really is no answer though, for you will keep one and always wonder what you could have done with the other. We're truck guys... its our bane.

BOTH is not an option, the landlords (aka mom and dad) say one toy at a time, and im REALLY pushing it with both the LWB and SWB frames for my C10 sitting here beside the garage. its gotta be one or the other, not both.

Living in AZ, my only choice is lowerd SWB 2WD trucks
But having just gone back to NY for christmas and getting 14" of snow, Id be hard pressed to not turn one of my trucks into a lifted 4wd plow truck if I ever moved back. Since this is a toy only vehicle, Id still go lowerd 2wd route

If its 4x4 I say lift it and go to town, if its 2wd I say lower it and make it fast.

As long as you keep something to drive when it snows and not get the 2wd out in it too much then I'd sell the 4x4 while the snow is out. Like you said it's worth 3 times with a plow. Think of the $$$ you can spend on the 2wd then.
