timing a small block?
what should i set the timing to in my sb 327? i know to time it with the vacume advance off the dizzy and pluged, so what should it be at with the vacume advance off on then what should it be at when it is on?

Depends.. What kind of ignition and cam you runnin?
If the cam is more than stock, then share with us the grind info or cam model. There are a whole lot of other factors in play here with your question, so get ready to hear a lot of questions. Since, your Q is so open ended.

im not sher what cam is it but i will find out tomarow, but i do know its a 327 30 over with 202 heads 600 carb and HEI if that help

8 to 12 degrees initial is a good starting point. If your HEI has lighter springs set total mechanical around 32 degrees to be safe. with vacuum hooked up and 2500 RPM I like around 45 degrees to help with good fuel mileage. Vacuum advance hooked to PORTED vacuum on carb.
