Des Moines Good Guys show?????

I will be making the trek down to Louisina to pick up my newest purchase on this weekend of July 1 to 8th. I know the show is on the 3rd to the 5th, but what else must a couple crazy Canadians see while there are in the Midwest. I was hoping for a Nascar race, but Daytona is a liitle out of the way. Any input from the locals? Drags, Im sure we will see some Fireworks, hell even good Gokarts.

I also will be in the Shreveport area around the 5/6, any must see things happening?

Please post anything, we want to make this roadtrip a memorable one.
