should i part it--84 K5

well after pulling the intake and having the EGR passage cleaned out it still isn't close to passing california emissions. i'm tired of working on it and thinking of parting it out. it runs great but appearantly has bad valve guides and carbon buildup on the pistons,NOX numbers are "gross polluter" high. here's some details: 84 K5 blazer, p-s, p-b, a-c, tilt, cruise, p-w, p-l, "sequoia package" whatever that is, 4 inch lift, 15 x 10 alcoas, nearly new 33s, no rust , just a few minor dings.
should i junk it or try selling as is ? my g/f owns it and she paid 2 grand for it 4 years ago but doesn't want to put more money into it.

Re: should i part it--84 K5

shes already made her mind up to get rid of it but frankly if youre into it this far its prolly cheap enough for you to get a rebuild kit and do the heads and or motor too

Re: should i part it--84 K5

Definitely wouldn't junk it. I personally would fix it, but if you're in a position that you don't want to, or can't, then I suggest selling it complete (provided the title is clear).

Poke, you need to quit smokin. By the time you drove from Georgia to California to pick those damn tires up, you could have bought a new set for what you'll spend in gas!

It boggles my mind that someone would even think about junking something that was rust free.

Re: should i part it--84 K5

If Nevada and Arizona do not have such emissions testing you might want to try to sell it using CL in those states.

I would fix it myself. If it won't pass emissions testing you could always make it a trail rig.

Re: should i part it--84 K5

thanks for all the replies. she'e still not 100% sure what to do with it- i left it at work after we did the manual smog test on it. the problem with the 73-91 blazers around here is the fact that there are so many of them and they really have no value--i can buy a super clean 90 thats loaded and in excellent condition for 2 grand. i am really sick of california smog laws and just picked up another 72 suburban, as soon as it's road worthy, my 77 will be gone too.

Re: should i part it--84 K5

Put it in the for sale section. I'm sure a rust free truck like this will generate a lot of interest. Or fix it and keep it. I would not part it out. The tub is too clean.
