Mirrors: painted, black or chrome dumbo?

I just picked up a set of factory power mirrors for my crew cab project and I'm really not sure which way to put them on the truck. Most of the trucks I see with these mirrors are 81-87 my crew cab is a 79. I really want to paint them to match the rest of the truck which will have the stock trim, paint color, bumper ... Any input?

I know it's my truck do what make ME happy, I'm really just looking for some other ideas

I've always liked the sport mirrors. You have brought up a tough question. I could see all of those options.

What color are you going with on the truck?

It's the stock brown color like this truck.

I forgot to mention that I am leaning toward either color matched or dumbo. I think sport mirrors are a little small for a crew cab and I will occasionaly pull a trailer and want to be able to see out of them

Re: Mirrors: painted, black or chrome dumbo?

If you want the elec I would paint them black. If you tinted the windows they would kind of blend with them. If you go with the Dumbos go chrome to match the trim.

If the rest of the truck is stock, and you want to keep that stock look then paint it the same colour.

I suggest the power mirrors painted black. As mentioned this will allow them to blend in rather than stand out.

I'm on board too with not liking the black rims. I have seen a few that are ok, but just not my cup of tea.

So what's our decision?

I got the mirrors today and they are HUGE!!! I dont think I like them, I think they are just too big and wont look good with the old school styling of the truck so I'm going to get rid of them.

Re: Mirrors: painted, black or chrome dumbo?

They are kind of a acquired taste. A friend's parents had some on their suburban, and I always thought they looked out of place. However the elec part would have been nice when pulling a trailer.
