Which air cleaner housing did I have??
Got another question about what my original equipment was.
Original '84 motor was a 305 (Vacuum hose diagram XDJ and did originally have a thermostatic air cleaner). The motor was replaced with a 305 from an '88, has valve cover bolts in center of valve covers. There were two air cleaner housings out there about that era, one was the normal looking one not too deep, the other was about 2" taller and I think not as large in diameter. The guy said when he got the truck it had the taller one on it but didn't know if it was the original or the one from the '88 motor. Either way, it was messed up and he replaced it with a regular shallow one from the junkyard. So, can anybody that has or is familiar with an '84 with a 305 tell me what air cleaner housing was the original equipment? By the way, they installed Websense internet supervision software on our network here, not as free to come here during business hours as I used to be.... gonna have to break down and get service at home now...

The 84 took a 5 1/2 inch tall air filter. The heat riser Thermostat thingy is on the exhaust manifold. Its controled by a sensor I believe that is loacated on the thermostat housing. Yall correct me if I error.

No the heat riser is controlled by the sensor located in the actual air cleaner. One line goes into the sensore and another goes to the thermac.

Thanks for the info. Was under the hood this weekend, the stickers on the air cleaner presently on my truckreference 1976 as the current year model. Gonna have to locate the metal heat riser assembly to bolt on to the exhaust manifold.
By the way. Paul if you happen to drop back by this post, mailed the money order yesterday (Sunday) Thanks again...
