dana 44 and a 205 transfer case
how much is a dana 44 and a 205 transfer case off of a 1969 gmc 4 wheel drive pick up worth???

Not sure on the 44, but for the 205 I wouldn't pay anything over 2-3 hundred. The 205's are tough and reliable but cost lots to fix. I'm in the process of rebuilding mine and I'm into it for over a grand.

If it were me I would get an NP 241 out of a later model Chevy. They have a passenger side drop, are light stong, cheap and plentiful. Plus the NP 241 has a 2.72 low range. GM transmissions only have 2 spline counts on the later ones 27 splines on the 350 and OD &00R4 and 4L60E transmissions and 32 splines on the 4spd manual and 400 turbo and 4L80E. You can change the output on a 465 4 spd to a 32 spline from the old 10 spline pattern.

since gas prices jumped the "old" 4x4 stuff has dipped in value, I see 205's going for a couple hundred everytime I look, The D44 is is not really sought after anymore, most wheelers have a couple taking up space from there D66 swaps. I would say a hundred on one is a fair price?
I just bought a complete Suburban frame, 350 SBC/turbo 350, 305 TC, D44/12 bolt, 4 almost new 31/10.5 tires, and a body with title to scrap,with a ton of parts for 500.oo. I sold a 69 3/4 ton running gear 4.11's ,305 Tc, 4 speed, and stripped junk cab for 600.oo last summer? |

Same with the 241, cheap, cheap, cheap. I am taking the 700R4/241 and installing it in my 1976 3/4 ton 4x4. It will replace a 350/203. I don't know where Mogadore is in Ohio, I grew up in Toledo. You can get 205's for about 100 bucks at the swap meets around here. I would much rather have a 205 than a 241, but to each his own.

69 came with closed knuckle d44 with drum brakes and rockwell t case. 205 were not used untill 1970.Location location location on wiw.

My 69 had Disc brake big hub D44 8 lug, and a 205, Remember very few trucks are stock now after 40 years,

I think '69 was a split year for the front axles and t-cases. I know for sure that '69 Blazers (mid-year introduction) came with open knuckle drum brake front axles and NP205s. No closed knuckle axle or Rockwell case ever came in a Blazer.

Here in The Buckeye State there not worth mutch. Your very lucky to get $100 out of a 44 with discs and the NP205 about $200 but only if it's a 32 spline!

Assuming it is the closed knuckle Dana 44 that is pretty worthless. Anyone wanting to buy a Dana 44 will want an open knuckle with disk brakes. The closed knuckle has a terrible turning radius compared to the open knuckle axle.
Assuming it has the Rockwell transfer case that is probably worth a bit to someone who has damaged their Rockwell and want to stay stock for an easy swap. I'd say it is worth $100 to $200 to the right buyer. Here is what a Rockwell looks like And here is what a closed knuckle axle looks like

That one is married to the trans right? I think they only did that for a year or two with the Rockwell. Since the Rockwell is not that desireable, it may not be worth much, but to a purist restoration guy that is gold right there!
Anybody know for sure what 67-69 t-case setups were? My recollection is prior to 67 all were divorced and Rockwells. 67-69 used a few different t-cases, Dana 20's, Rockwells and 205's as I recall some married, some divorced. After 1969 (starting 70 model year) all were married and either 205's or 203's. I ask because I recall a 1967 1/2ton 4x4 we had on base in 1972/73 that had a 6,3spd. and a divorced Dana 20 in it. We used it (mainly) to tow those big purple K extinguishers back and forth to the flight line. Too bad rockwell did not design the rear output to come out of the top, instead of the bottom. I looked at a 69 K20 former brush fire truck with a 307, sm465, np205, ho52, closed knuckle d44. My point is that the sm465/np205 combo came in the 69s as well as Rockwell t221s. I'm thinking that some of the late t221s were mounted to sm465s.
