Lower with leaf springs
OK, one more Q for those in the know.
Has anyone lowered the rear of a C-20 with leaf springs by (i don't know the term) flipping the rear end, placing the rear end on top of the leaf springs instead of below. Ive seen this done on all kinds of other trucks, but haven't seen it mentioned here. Any advise on ways to lower without losing hauling capacity? Thanks again! |

Re: Lower with leaf springs
best advice would be do the "flip kit" and give yourself a small notch for payload clearance. maybe a helper spring (air or leaf) and you should be good to go.

Re: Lower with leaf springs
Yeah, it's been brought up several times you probably missed it. But basically as bagndragit mentions, a flip kit with a notch kit is almost a necessity if you want to carry anything or if you drive over bumps.
I found out that I'd get just a couple of inches of frame clearance, at the most, on my 1/2 ton. If you have some extra cash, dearching may be your best bet. |

Re: Lower with leaf springs
There was a shop near us that specialized in lowering Dually trucks and maintain some sort of load capacity. They did it 2 ways. 1 was with air bags and the other was an axle flip. Both ways will require a "C" notch kit to give axle clearance while under a load. Depending on how low you want to go, you may need the "C" notch for axle movement without a load. WES

Re: Lower with leaf springs
I run a flip kit and C notches. I removed one spring from each spring pack, and If I didnt do the c notch my axle would be touching the frame just sitting still.
well worth the time brother. Flip kits are the way to go imo, The cool thing about the flip kit is that you can adjust your pinion angle.
