Re: smog canister removal?

There is no REAL affect to the operation of the engine by removing the canister. It is there to process the fumes from your fuel tanks, so that the governments can safely say that the vehicles made during that era were emsissions safe. I have ran my truck for many years without the canister (OK beat me) and all I did was to put a filter on the vent line and made it to look as if it was part of the engine compartment.

Re: smog canister removal?

Can't you just cap the line off, and let the tank vent through the cap vent? That is what I was planning on doing. I have to change my tank out, and I was just going to cap off the line at the tank, and then pull the whole thing out.

Re: smog canister removal?

if you change your tank out, get the 2 line fuel sender, which will eliminate the line you are worried about. Then you can rip the old line out entirely....
