4-link vs 4-bar vs leaf

Hey guys Im looking at back halfing my 51 GMC but Im stuck on what to use for the rear suspension. It's going to be a street toy and maybe see the track here and there. What do you guys think?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Do you just want to clean the suspension up, lower it, or ???

BTW- 4 link and 4 bar are the same thing just different terms. There "are" different styles of 4 links though.

Ya I hear 4 link is fully adjustable and the 4 bar is preset or adjustable on one side mainly for pinion angle.

OH ya: What are your plans? Air ride? Coil overs?

Re: 4-link vs 4-bar vs leaf

I'm making it pro street. Back halfing with a narrowed rear. It won't be air ride but if I use anything other than springs it will have coilovers. Just wanted to know what I should go with springs,4 link, ladder bar?

Re: 4-link vs 4-bar vs leaf

Well I'm in the middle of removing my Pro-street ladder bar setup with coilovers. I'm going the direction of full air ride with PB DM and 22" wheels. My current setup works great and my understanding is with a static height ladder bars are fine, the main reason for the 4 link is maintaining proper pinion angle through lots of suspension travel (ie offroad susp or air ride). Pro-street doesn't see much susp travel. I hope my pics are helpful.

Re: 4-link vs 4-bar vs leaf

I believe my setup was all built by hand here in Arizona, the previous owner had a couple different street rod shops work on the project. I don't know if any of it was a kit. All of my front and rear suspension is for sale in the Parts For Sale section of this Forum. Let me know if you have an questions about these items.
