nos gm????
ok ...im confused about something....i just watched 2 67-72 gm rockers sell on e bay for 142.50...advertised as nos ....now i know some items are better the older they are because of the stamping dies...but how would you know when? gm rockers are still readily available from gm dealerships.........about $104 ....i think....for board members that dont know there is a website....gmpartsdirect.com....that sells the available genuine gm parts for our trucks below whosale prices....for instance the gm rockers are $62.50 if i remember right...it would be nice to see some old nos rockers next to the new gm ones and compare but i think it would take a pretty noticeable diff. to make me pay more than double price for them ...just my .02

I watched them too. Made me want to list my 2 sets of L+R rockers right then and there on Ebay. $560 would buy me an awful lot of re-pro rockers!

We take a pair of NOS rockers to all the swap meets and shows so that our customers can compare quality. When we have them check the bends between the NOS and repro they see they are the same, then we have them grab them on the back side top&bottom and try to flex or squeeze it and they find that the NOS GM flexs far easier as they are thinner they leave with a set of reproductions everytime.

SAME-SAME
We have been doing the same thing as Paul, for years...Keep GM NOS for customers to compare to the "GOOD" repro rockers. Less work with the "GOOD" repros--this time! Some repro parts do take more work and are not as nice as GM, but not the rockers...IF you get the good ones. Some/many repro rockers are junk. We keep some of those for comparison, too.

Gotta agree PICKMUP its always nice to have a TABCO rocker on hand to show how bad the bends are formed, or worse a APEX rocker that has bad bends and ultra-thin.

Estate auctions have proven to me that people will pay more for something if they think they are beating someone else out of it, regardless of what it may be worth. At least you can get a hand on it and see it. On eBay, you truly are buying "a pig in a poke". You have to trust that the seller is representing the product. I know that eBay has guidelines but my experience is "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". I think that there are some foolish people just waiting to be parted from their money, whether on eBay, or an auction. It WILL happen.

What about the reproduction 67-68 grill trim, 69-70 and 71-72 outer grills are they making them better quality now? I posted this question about a year ago thinking I would add them to our catalog but got so many responses on bad quality and fit that I decided not to. I'm running out of GM nos 69-70 grills and GM is discontinuing them soon from the GM dealers i've talked to, you now need a vin # for a 69-70 for each grill you order wholesale. As far as rockers, doors, fenders and inner fenders etc. the reproduction parts are so much better quality lately that the GM parts are now the poor quality parts. Tell a walk in customer that the repro parts are better and he will almost call you a liar, show him and he thanks you!

Ed, your problem is about to solve itself. When GM runs out, all we can get are repros...and again we are lucky they are making so many parts for our trucks. Can you imagine what an NOS grill would cost if GM was out and there were no repros. The finish on the new repros is better than GM...but the quality control is lousy. Some come in real nice and some come in rough with grind marks and poor anodizing. Taiwan still will not quality control into their processing. If parts come out bad, they ship them to the US, knowing we can't return them. It is a never ending hassle!!! They can make good parts...just not every day.
