Steering Wander. Play in steering box?

My truck really wanders bad both ways at 45mph. Should there be this much play in my steering box? I looked at another truck and it seemed to be the same way. Hopefully the video works. thanks
looks like u just have to click the photo to watch the video.

Please do not drive that untill you get a rebuilt steering box, and no it should not have any play like that. If that shaft moves your tires should also.

there is supposed to be play in the gear box, but that is possibly 50% more than designed, but is also pretty typical.
Non power assist usually have twice that, those boxes are always worn out bad.

You can also adjust them instead of getting them overhauled. I've had TONS of play taken out just by having someone with more of a brain that I have get in there and adjust the worm gear. Try that first. If the play can't be adjusted out, then it's time to get it rebuilt.

I remember reading about adjusting a place on top of the gear box for excessive play. Believe I read that in the overhaul manual..I wouldn't drive that till you addressed that.
