1957 GMC suburban

This truck is neat. The man I bought it frombought it in early '58 when on vacationin California. He then drove wife and 2 sons north to Alaska, then back to Ohio. Then the story goes that in 1962 he started to do the bodywork for paint. While the truck was in his garage, a drunk driver left the road and ran into the side of his garage and into the rear quarter pushing the the front fender in also. The PO replaced the fender with NOS but never fixed the rear quarter. It has sat in his garage ever since and has not been touched. He had all the parts wrapped in newspaper all dated 1962. It was just like a time capsule going through it.

Re: 1957 GMC suburban

One of the papers had a big picture of Jackie Kennedy on the front page. On the truck, check out the trailer brake actuator mounted on the column. I had no idea they started out that way (actuates with a lever you pull by had and not hooked to the brake pedal.

Talking Re: 1957 GMC suburban

the lever below the turn signal is the trailer brake system. You are supposed to pull the lever by hand and is not hooked to the brake pedal like modern day ones. Old school cool in my book !!

Oh !!! That's what I thought it was... I'm just more accustom to seeing them on the other side of the column.

Just like in the Big Rigs, and they're called Brake Spikes

A 57 gmc burb, with clam shell doors and no rust. WHAT more could you ask for. I would really like to know what something like that would cost, BUT that would be REAL tacky to ask. lol
