On my '68 C-20, I aminstalling the 'pumpkin' on an Eaton-Type axle. Does that side of the differential get a gasket? I cannot tell from the looks of the old surfaces.

It had one on mine I just put mine back in and I used silicone it will set a few months anyways so should be ok.. I have never used gaskets on either side of any of my others..My .02 Jack

thanks, think I'll use ultra black, and use the gasket I bought on the backside, might as well use it.

Silicone II Window & Door sealant from Home Depot (blue, black and gold cauk tube). I use it on my differential and when I install intake gaskets. Zero leaks.

There is supposed to be a thin paper gasket in front and a thicker gasket in back. Same bolt pattern front and rear, too.
